This is a 3D print add-on and not an original from Ravensburger!

The Railswitch works like a normal switch, only vertically! The balls run in two directions (as always with a turnout), but these are now "straight ahead" and "downwards".

The turnout part, which is fixed in the grey housing with a steel pin, is responsible for the function. This rotates as the ball passes through. However, a little more momentum is required for straight ahead operation so that the turnout can also turn round. It is helpful if the Railswitch still has a gradient, then the momentum can also be less.

The Railswitch not only works free-floating as shown in the photos, but also on transparent levels.
